    173rd Fighter Wing Public Affairs

Miles Scott, call sign“Batkid," reported for duty at the 173rd Fighter Wing in Klamath Falls, Ore., April 10, 2014. Scott has battled leukemia and his doctors have recently said he is in remission. The 114th Fighter Squadron has hosted a number of children with the Fighter Pilot for a Day Program. Each child dons the uniform of an F-15 pilot to include helmet, mask and at one point even night vision goggles. An instructor pilot, in this case Maj. Richard Giampietri, escorts them to watch take-offs up close and personal, sits them in the cockpit of a jet and introduces them to the crew chief and other maintenance personnel.
