Airmen from the 303rd Expeditionary Rescue Squadron (ERQS) watch an HC-130 P/N King taxi on the runway before takeoff on Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, March 28, 2014. The aircraft redeployed to the 71st Rescue Squadron (RQS), Moody Air Force Base, Ga. This particular C-130 was the first C-130 Hercules to be converted into the “P” model in 1964, making it a dedicated fixed-wing personnel recovery aircraft. The aircraft was used for the last time by Airmen at the 303rd ERQS, who were deployed from the 71st RQS and 723rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, Moody AFB, Ga. Upon arrival back in the states, the aircraft will be retired to the “Bone Yard” at Davis–Monthan AFB, Ariz., where its vital parts will be used to repair other aircraft.
