U.S. Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Darrell Linkus, 140th Explosive Ordinance Disposal specialist, is promoted to Senior Airman on March 9, 2014, at Airburst Range, Fort Carson, Colo. In honor of his promotion, a "hollywood shot" was conducted in which a small amount of explosives create a large fire display. EOD specialists regularly employ tools like C4 and robots as well as classified techniques to dispose of explosives whether they be decommissioned missiles on base or roadside bombs in the field.
