Members of the Oregon and Hawaii National Guard's CBRNE Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP), work together to lift a large piece of cement from a vehicle in order to reach and extract a simulated casualty, while participating in the Vigilant Guard-Alaska 2014 exercise, March 29, near Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska. The two units are training to respond to a large-scale earthquake scenario as this exercise ties in to Alaska Shield, a series of complex exercises addressing catastrophic planning, response, and recovery over the course of nearly two years that build on a series of four prior statewide Alaska Shield exercises.
