Marcia Hackett, a senior environmental planner with the Regional Planning Environmental Center in Fort Worth, takes a paddlefish from District Fisher Biologist Mike Bister, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service prior to releasing it into the Big Cypress Bayou near downtown Jefferson, Texas, March 5. Forty-Seven paddle fish were released into the watershed as part of a demonstration program designed to show increased diversity to help meet the environment flow criteria and ecological needs of the downstream floodplain and river system between Lake O’ the Pines and Caddo Lake.
