Iraqi security forces prepare to send civilian traffic across Shat al Khayr bridge, near al Batha in the Dhi Qar province Sept. 13, 2008. Col. Philip Battaglia, the commander of the Long Knife Brigade, and Gov. Aziz, the Dhi Qar governor, opened the bridge to civilian traffic during a grand opening ceremony on it. Romanian and ISF troops have guarded the bridge and only military vehicles were allowed to use the Euphrates River crossing before the ceremony.
