Romanian and Iraqi troops let civilian traffic cross the Euphrates River's Shat al Khayr bridge, near al Batha Sept. 13, 2008. The bridge had been reserved for military traffic only, until Col. Philip Battaglia, the commander of the Long Knife Brigade, and Dhi Qar Governor Aziz, opened it for civilian use from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day.
