Seaman Apprentice Ashley McKee relays bearings-from-land readings taken from a telescopic alidade to the quartermasters inside the pilothouse aboard the guided-missile destroyer USS McFaul. This process helps to navigate the ship through the Turkish Straits. McFaul is underway to provide humanitarian assistance to the Republic of Georgia following the conflict between Russian and Georgian forces. The assistance being provided will aid in and alleviating human suffering in the Republic of Georgia.
