Gen. James D. Thurman, former commanding general of United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/United States Forces-Korea, speaks about the stature and professionalism of Brig. Gen. Scott McKean during a promotion ceremony Oct. 29, 2013, at the 1st Armored Division headquarters on East Fort Bliss. Thurman flew to El Paso to promote McKean and was his last ceremony before retiring next month. Thurman has served in the United States Army for nearly 39 years.
