Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. James T. Conway, thanks Regimental Combat Team 1 Sgt. Maj., Sgt. Maj. Don W. Gallagher and his personal security detail for providing security on a convoy from Al Taqadduma with coins board Camp Fallujah, Al Anbar province, Iraq on Feb. 19. Conway is touring key sites of Multi National Force-West Area of Operation, meeting Marines of Al Anbar, and conducting office calls with leadership to obtain a sense of how post-Transfer of Authority pass-off of the mission is progressing. Regimental Combat Team 1 is deployed with Multi National Force-West in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in the Al Anbar province of Iraq to develop Iraqi security forces, facilitate the development of official rule of law through democratic reforms and continue the development of a market-based economy centered on Iraqi reconstruction.
