MEDITERRANEAN SEA (Sept. 23, 2005) - -Search and Rescue (SAR) Seaman Clint Bruney, of the fast frigate USS Ingraham (FFG-61) helps steady a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) as it is lowered for a Visit, Board, Search, and Seizure (VBSS) exercise aboard the Egyptian ship Mubarak (ENS-911) as part of Bright Star, a multinational exercise held every two years in Egypt. Bright Star is the largest and most significant coalition military exercise conducted by U.S. Central Command. The exercise is an important part of U.S. Central Command theater engagement strategy and is designed to improve readiness and interoperability and strengthen the military and professional relationships among U.S., Egyptian and participating forces. Ingraham and Expeditionary Strike Group One are currently underway on a scheduled WestPac deployment. Maritime Security Operations (MSO) set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment as well as complement the counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations. MSO deny international terrorists use of the maritime environment as a venue for attack or to transport personnel, weapons, or other materiel.
