Pfc. Sasha Deas breaks down while giving a eulogy for Gunner, a 13-year-old mount of the Commanding General's Mounted Color Guard Aug. 23 at Fort Riley, Kan. Gunner died Aug. 16 after complications from colic. Deas was Trooper's last rider and said the following: "We all have a favorite horse or two out here and Gunner was, by far, my favorite horse. He always kept me on my toes. He made mistakes, but so did I. ... I saw so much potential for him and he was the sweetest boy anyone could ask for. He always had my back, and I always had his."
