The Distinguished Flying Cross hangs on the chest of Staff Sgt. Roberts Wells after Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Mark A. Welsh III and Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force James A. Cody presented it to him and his teammates during an Airman's call Aug. 21, 2013, at Kadena Air Base, Japan. The recipients were Capt. Michael Kingry, Capt. Gavin Johnson, 1st Lt. Matthew Pfarr, Tech. Sgt. Scott Lagerveld, and Staff Sgt. Robert Wells. The recipients were Capt. Michael Kingry, Capt. Gavin Johnson, 1st Lt. Matthew Pfarr, Tech. Sgt.
