The Forest Service is taking a back-to-basics approach focusing on the fundamental work that matters most to the American people. This priority focuses on actively managing forests for timber production, grazing and reforestation to restore health and productivity. We are meeting these goals through mechanical thinning and prescribed fire to remove hazardous fuels and restore natural balance. These actions support local mills, elevate the voices of producers and fuel rural prosperity across our National Forest System.
