The 38th Commandant’s Planning Guidance and Force Design 2030 identified the requirement for a better trained entry-level infantry Marine. Schools of Infantry East and West will execute a pilot 14-week Infantry Marine Course designed to refine and expand the skills of infantry Marines. The increase in training time and repetitions will help close the current gap in enlisted versus officer training. Marines will be technically and tactically proficient with more company-level infantry weapon systems (M27, M320, M240B, demolitions, Javelins, etc.) as well as acquire additional skills and understanding in all-spectrum signature management and enhanced camouflaging techniques.
