Naval Submarine League Aloha Chapter Announces 2016 Warfighting Awards
JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR HICKAM, Hawaii – Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMSUBPAC) released the recipients of the 2016 Naval Submarine League Aloha Chapter annual Warfighting Awards on April 7.

EXWC employee Erik Cortez receives Superior Civilian Medal for ValorPORT HUENEME, Calif. - Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center (EXWC) employee Erik Cortez was presented a Superior Civilian Medal for Valor by NAVFAC EXWC Commanding Officer, Capt. Jay Mitchell for performing acts of valor on October 11, 2015. The citation, signed by NAVFAC Commander and Chief of Civil Engineers, Rear Adm. Bret Muilenburg, stated throughout the crisis, Mr. Cortez demonstrated remarkable bravery, exceptional determination, and an astounding sense of calmness.
