FAIRPORT HARBOR, Ohio — The Coast Guard is updating its ice-breaking operations in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, on Lake Erie due to the water depths in the Grand River, Feb. 9, 2026.
Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan is set to activate and enforce a temporary closure of the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal for electric fish barrier testing conducted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Romeoville, Illinois, between mile markers 295.5 and 297.5, beginning Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026 and scheduled to end Sunday, Feb. 22, 2026.
In accordance with federal waterway regulation 33 CFR 165.901, the Captain of the Port, Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan is scheduled to close the waters of southern Green Bay to commercial vessel traffic starting at noon on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026.
