North Carolina Army National Guard Spc. Victoria Pinter, of the 878th Engineer Company, holds the pump line as flood waters are drained from the motor pool in Boone, N.C., July 27. Soldiers of the 878th and 875th Engineer Companies and the 621st Survey and Design worked to clear the lot of water before pouring three concrete pads to protect equipment in the motor pool from flood waters from a nearby creek. Pinter, of Forest City, N.C., was waist deep in mud as she searched for the lost glasses of a comrade. She said they might as well have fun if they have to work in the mud.
