North Carolina Army National Guard Pfc. Nicholas Hodge, a Technical Engineer Specialist with the 621st Survey and Design Team, surveys the Army Readiness Center motor pool area for a concrete pad in Boone, N.C., July 27. Soldiers of the 878th and 875th Engineer Companies and the 621st Survey and Design Team worked to clear the lot of water before pouring three concrete pads to protect equipment in the motor pool from flood waters from a nearby creek. The surveyors ensure the pads meet construction standards. The concrete pads encompass 26,000 square feet and the project is slated for completion the first week in August.
