During the National Hispanic American Heritage month ceremony, volunteer performer, Warrant Officer Maritza Cisneros, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, danced to Jarabe in celebration of this event at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, Oct. 12, 2012. Jarabe is a folk dance for couples that inspire flirtation, popular in central and southern Mexico, particularly in Jalisco state. It was also influenced by native Mexican couple dances imitating the courtship of doves.
