During the National Hispanic American Heritage month ceremony, volunteer performers from The Salsa at KAF danced to Bachata in celebration of this event, Oct. 12, 2012, at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan. Bachata is a form of music and dance played by guitars with percussion instruments such as maracas or bongo drums that originated in the Dominican Republic. Its theme is usually romantic and is influenced by rumba and Son, with a unique sound.
