The M240 machine gun is a weapon system widely used by Marines. The Marines of Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, will use it throughout Talisman Sabre 2011. Talisman Sabre 2011 is a biennial combined training exercise designed to train Australian and U.S. forces in planning and conducting Combined Task Force operations to improve Australian defence force/U.S. combat readiness and interoperability.
