Rct. Johnny Evans Jr., Platoon 1030, Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, hits the ground after Rct. Krysthian Cintron-Lebron performed a technique on him Feb. 26, 2014, during a martial arts training session on Parris Island, S.C. Recruits spend the first five weeks of training learning martial arts techniques and attempting to earn their tan belt, the first belt level in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program. The program fuses hand-to-hand combat skills with character development, yielding a strong, morally sound Marine warrior. Evans, 20, from Victoria, Va., and Cintron-Lebron, an 18-year-old from Rochester, N.Y., are scheduled to graduate May 2, 2014. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
