Rct. Justin Lowery, Platoon 1025, Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, practices a defensive technique on Rct. Keven Ngo, during martial arts training Feb. 26, 2014, on Parris Island, S.C. The recruits partnered up at the beginning of the class and rehearsed the moves on each other. The martial arts skills they learn in boot camp are some they may need if they become Marines. The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program fuses hand-to-hand combat skills with character development, yielding a strong, morally sound Marine warrior. Lowery, 19, from Lumberton, N.C., and Ngo, 19, from Okeechobee, Fla., are scheduled to graduate May 2, 2014. (Photo by Cpl. Octavia Davis)
