Japan Self Defense Forces (JSDF) Army Sgt. 1st Class Yasuyuki Iwashita, a communications equipment specialist with the JSDF Deployment Air Force for Counter-Piracy Enforcement unit (DAPE), tests radio equipment at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, July 5, 2013 with U.S. Army Sgt. Rodrick Brown, the communications section chief with 1st Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment 2nd Armor Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division (1/63 AR RG). Members of DAPE and the 1/63 AR RG developed an emergency communications system to use in the event of man-made or natural disasters. It ensures their respective service's radio equipment could communicate effectively and reliably with each other. (Photo by U.S. Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Tom Ouellette/Released)
