U.S. Army Pfc. Kherrion Sweet, Japan Self Defense Forces' (JSDF) Navy Lt. Hirosuke Watanbe and Army Sgt. 1st Class Yasuyuki Iwashita inspect radio equipment at Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti, July 5, 2013. Tthe U.S. and Japanese service members developed an emergency communications system and tested their radio equipment to ensure it is compatible with each other. Sweet is a signals systems operator with 1st Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment 2nd Armor Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division. Watanbe and Iwashita are with JSDF's Deployment Air Force for Counter-Piracy Enforcement unit, a Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa coalition partner.
