Spc. Joshua Cline looks on as 8-year-old Chase Knight peers into the sight unit of an M224 mortar during the National Airborne Day celebration at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, Aug. 24. Cline is an indirect fire infantryman with 3rd Squadron, 73rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division. National Airborne Day celebrates the first U.S. Army parachute jump Aug. 16, 1940. This is the 11th observance of the day President George W. Bush proclaimed Aug. 16, 2002, the day to nationally recognize that first jump. It was also an opportunity for family members to gain an understanding of what their paratroopers do and where their traditions began.
