Retired Sgt. 1st Class Larry Barber, a volunteer with the 82nd Airborne Division Museum Historical Society's Living History Detachment, discusses the evolution of airborne equipment with Spc. Taige Foley, a paratrooper with the 16th Military Police Brigade during National Airborne Day celebrations at the Airborne and Special Operations Museum, Aug.24. National Airborne Day celebrates the first U.S. Army parachute jump Aug. 16, 1940. This is the 11th observance of the day President George W. Bush proclaimed Aug. 16, 2002, the day to nationally recognize that first jump. It was also an opportunity for family members to gain an understanding of what their paratroopers do and where their traditions began. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Nancy Lugo)
