The members of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe U.S. National Military Representative office played in the annual Crossage event in Chievres, Belgium, Feb. 18, 2026. The annual centuries-old custom is a key opportunity for U.S. service members and Chievres residents to interact through a shared cultural experience. Held annually on Ash Wednesday, the unique, golf-like medieval game involves players wielding a wooden mallet, or "rabot," to strike a wooden ball toward metal kegs in the fewest strikes possible. To warn of the ball's erratic flight, participants shout "Chôlette!" before each swing. (U.S. Air Force video by Senior Airman Christina Carter)
