Soldiers from A Co., 1/224th Aviation Regiment, District of Columbia Army National Guard, in coordination with the Metropolitan and Metro Transit police departments, land a UH-72 Lakota helicopter and quickly convert and transport it by towed trailer into the DC Armory in Washington, Feb. 25, 2026. The unit provides readily available light utility aviation support to federal or state authorities with air movement of personnel, equipment and supplies, in addition to reconnaissance and observation in support of counter-narcotic operations, and drug interdiction support to local law enforcement agencies.
