U.S. Air Force Airmen, allied partners and volunteers conduct humanitarian airlift operations during Operation Christmas Drop 2025 at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Dec. 2025. Operation Christmas Drop is the Department of War’s longest-running humanitarian airlift mission, beginning in 1952 when a U.S. Air Force B-29 aircrew dropped supplies to islanders in the Pacific as a gesture of goodwill. Today, the annual operation is a multinational effort delivering essential supplies to more than 59 remote islands across the Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of Palau, supporting over 56,000 islanders while strengthening regional partnerships and airlift readiness in the Indo-Pacific.
