Kosovo Force (KFOR) Regional Command-East (RC-East) Soldiers of the 720th Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), from Baumholder, Germany, and Medical Evacuation Detachment assigned to Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 149th Aviation Regiment, Arizona Army National Guard conducts “Operation Top Gear” at a Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) demolition range near Pristina, Kosovo on Jan. 14, 2023.
During the operation Staff Sgt. Louis Mirabelli with the Medical Evacuation Detachment assigned to Charlie Company, 2nd Battalion, 149th Aviation Regiment, Arizona Army National Guard, led KFOR Soldiers in vehicle extrication techniques that are used to access casualties trapped inside a vehicle following an accident. Also, during the training, Staff Sgt. Matthew Baldwin with EOD led KFOR Soldiers during explosive access and general disruption of a vehicle instructing on different techniques used by EOD teams.
The exercise demonstrated the interoperability of several NATO partners and allies to include Switzerland, the U.S., the United Kingdom, Italy and members of the KSF. By training together, they enhanced their readiness through training and developing best practices.
