Great news for Fort Wainwright! Construction has started on the $34 million dollar Aquatic Center funded through our Army MWR construction fund. The Aquatic Center will be located between the Physical Fitness Center and the Exchange. The nearly 30,000 square foot facility will house a 25-meter pool, splash pad area, zero entry depth pool with fun water features like water sprayers and dump buckets, slides and adult pool deck. Melaven pool will stay open as a mission pool to support Soldier Readiness. The Aquatic Center is due to open in the Spring of 2024.
