A C-17 aircraft piloted by airmen from the Tennessee Air National Guard 164th Airlift Wing lands at Grayling Army Airfield in Grayling, MI August 1, 2022. The 164th Airlift Wing is transporting soldiers from the Tennessee Army National Guard 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion to take part in Northern Strike 22. Northern Strike 22 tests multi-component and coalition forces through a challenging, realistic and detailed scenario based on relevant real-world security challenges and future conflicts. Michigan’s unique geography, airspace, ranges, and growing connection to the defense industry make it an ideal environment for All-Domain training and operations, and participants return to their units ready to succeed in the current and future fight armed with lessons learned, new tactics, techniques and procedures and realistic experience.
