    Video by Robert Piper

The United States Army Field Band

The United States Army Field Band and Alabama State University Choir collaborate on ths redition of Stand up to celebrate and recognize thge newest National Holiday, Juneteenth.
Juneteenth recognizes the formal extension of the liberties enumerated in the Declaration of
Independence to Black Americans whose freedom and dignity were for so long denied and
the Army played a fundamental role in securing the freedoms of 250,000 Black slaves in Texas when
Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, with a force of 1,800
men from the XIII Corps and announced the end of slavery.
For the Army, Juneteenth honors Black Soldiers who fought and sacrificed to ensure the Constitution fulfilled its promise to all Americans.

This product was filmed in Selma Alabama, a location with a great deal of history relating to the civil rights movement. It was created with a local, predominantly African American University, with the intent of showing intergrating the Army into a culutral celbration of Juneteenth, vice trying to take ownership of what was a celebration long before it was a Federal Holiday. Everythng from location to song choice were done with intent of not only celbrating Juneteenth, but being an authentic acknowledgement of this country's history while also portraying the Army's dedication to diversity, equaltiy, inclusion and efforts to prioritize reaching what have been historically underserved communitiues. This video very much promotes the Army's never ending role in promoting and ensuring justice, morality and humanity while also showing a diverse set of talent while doing so. It is theough these authentic engagements with communities, where the Army organcally integrates, that true perception of the organization can begin toi change and create better communication environments for the future.
