    USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73)

    190926-N-DM241-1001
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (Sep. 26, 2019) Logistics Specialist Seaman Tyler West paints murals aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, USS George Washington (CVN 73). Now, he’s adding to the legacy of carriers dry-docked in Newport News with a mural in the Huntington Hall barracks. George Washington is undergoing refueling complex overhaul (RCOH) at Newport News Shipyard. RCOH is a nearly four-year project performed only once during a carrier’s 50-year service life that includes refueling the ship’s two nuclear reactors, as well as significant repairs, upgrades, and modernization. (U.S. Navy video created by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Elizabeth Cohen/released)
