190312-N-DL434-1001 SAN DIEGO (March 12, 2019) Sailors assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) paint the ship's anchor to signify that the ship was awarded the Retention Excellence Award. The Retention Excellence Award is given by the United States Department of the Navy for sustaining high levels of military retention. Bonhomme Richard is in its homeport of San Diego.
