Military funeral honors with escort were conducted for U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Marcelite Jordan Harris in Section 30 of Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia, today, Feb. 7, 2019. Maj. Gen. Harris was an accomplished military officer and a trailblazer in the U.S. Air Force. She was the first African American woman to attain the rank of major general in the U.S. Air Force, the first woman aircraft maintenance officer in the U.S. Air Force and the first woman director of maintenance for the U.S. Air Force. Maj. Gen. Harris served our country for 32 years.
