Since 2000, the SoH Award has been awarded by the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Military Departments (MilDeps) and the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) to individuals or organizations that epitomize selfless service and dedicated commitment to our military. In 2008, the presentation of these awards was combined into a joint ceremony and added recognition of a nominee from the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), to include Joint Staff, Department of Defense (DoD) Agencies and Field Activities. The SoH Award, named after Mr. Bob Hope, characterizes the values he embodied: duty, honor, courage, loyalty, commitment, integrity, and selfless dedication. Each of the recipients will receive a bronze medallion bearing the likeness of Mr. Hope.
