Members of the South Carolina Army National Guard place wire mesh barriers, provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, along the U.S. Hwy 501 corridor in Horry County, S.C., to help mitigate the risk of flooding and keep the route open for emergency responders and food deliveries, Sept. 17, 2018. USACE’s Emergency Operations Centers are integrated into County and State efforts regarding Hurricane Florence flood response. So far, USACE has delivered more than 10,000 linear ft. of barrier material and 126,000 sandbags to this site. (U.S. Army video by Edward N. Johnson)
