The 10th Mountain Division, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade conducted parts of it's Falcon's Peak exercise in Tahawus, N.Y. Tahawus Mine is a privately owned, abandoned mine that was donated by the landowner for use during Falcon's Peak in order to expand the aviation brigade's exercise footprint. The min houses 1-10 Attack Helicopter Battalion's AH-64 Apache helicopters, 2-10 Assault Helicopters Battalion's UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and tactical operations center, and 3-10 General Support Aviation Battalion's HH-60 Black Hawk helicopters used by their Medevac company. Operations such as supply movements, field feeding, water purification and ongoing training for Medevac and air assaults alongside Soldiers from 1st Brigade Combat Team. Opposing Forces routinely plan and execute attacks on the area, ensuring all Soldiers are defending their positions and are poised to respond to a simulated chemical or biological attack.
