Surf-zones can be extremely dangerous to navigate with rapidly changing depths (in space & time), large waves breaking waves, strong rip & longshore currents. Traditional surveying approaches do not work in breaking wave environments and can be expensive, dangerous, and become outdated.
ERDC has developed a suite of Littoral Imaging Sensors (LIS) that use Video (RGB & IR0 and Radar) to exploit the movement of waves across the surf-zone.
Products: Topography (RGB), Bathymetry (Radar, RGB, IR), Currents (RGB, IR, Radar)
CONOPs: Onshore and offshore look capabilities (all systems), High-wind & rain (Radar) and, Night (Radar & IR) /Day (Radar & RGB imagery) capabilities.
Forecasts: Integration with MD_FUSE (ERDC's littoral model-data assimilation suite) provides tactical forecasts of littoral conditions.
