Selfridge AIr National Guard Base has been called on to assist with the evacuation of military aircraft from regions being affected by Hurricane Irma. As of Friday afternoon, U.S. Navy P-3 Orions and P-8 Poseidons from Naval Air Station Jacksonville (Florida) are seeking refuge at Selfridge, and will remain here for next several days while evacuation orders are in effect. One of the National Guard's three primary missions, providing domestic support and relief, Selfridge has an open invitation and a lot of ramp space available to secure these assets. (SSgt. Andrew Schumann, 127th Wing Public Affairs)
