The purpose of the General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award (GDMLA) is to recognize and reward the demonstrated and outstanding leadership of junior Army officers. It recognizes the ideals for which General MacArthur stood for: duty, honor, country. The award promotes and sustains effective junior leadership in the Army. Twenty-Eight Company Grade (Active, Reserve and National Guard Officers) are selected through a boarding process for this honor. The GDMLA is hosted by the Chief of Staff of the Army and sponsored by the General Douglas MacArthur Foundation.
