Kaw Lake, near Ponca City, Oklahoma, released 20,000 cubic feet per second April 10 after heavy rains in the area. Kaw Lake is part of a system of flood risk mitigation structures in southern Kansas, Oklahoma and north Texas operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Tulsa District.
