The Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Hawaii National Guard CERFP team recently kicked off the urban search and rescue portion of Balikatan 2016 at Camp Capinpin. Brg General Hara Hawaii’s Deputy Adjutant General and Armed forces of the Philippines Major General Gan presided over the ceremony. Immediately following the ceremony members of the Hawaii National Guard demonstrated a rope rescue. Then it was time for the Armed Forces of the Philippines to divide in to teams and participate in subject matter expert exchanges where they will be reviewing life saving techniques that will include Rope Rescue, Shoring of walls and structures, Confined Space, Breaching and Lifting of Concrete, Patient Packaging and Decontamination principles. The event will culminate in an Interoperability Exercise which will test the techniques rehearsed during the week.
