Staff Sgt. Alan Carroll, Company A, 317th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division is pinned a Purple Heart by Brigadier Gen. Timothy McGuire, commander Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk on May 21, 2015 at Fort Polk’s War Memorial Park during the post Memorial Day ceremony. Carroll was awarded a Purple Heart for his brave action during the tragic events that happened on Nov. 5, 2009 at Fort Hood, Tx.
