The State of Hawaii, Department of Defense recently held a “Transfer of Authority” ceremony, for the State Adjutant General at the 29th Infantry Brigade Readiness Center at Kalaeloa. The ceremony was presided over by Gov. David Y. Ige.
During the ceremony, outgoing state adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Darryll Wong formally relinquished his authority to incoming state adjutant general Brig. Gen. Authur "Joe" Logan. The state adjutant general is a member of the governor's cabinet and oversees the training and readiness of the Hawaii Army and Air National Guards. He is also the Director of the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency (formerly State Civil Defense) and is the State's Homeland Security Advisor.
