I’m Staff Sergeant Brandon Weimer. Husband, father, airman. On Memorial Day, 2013, I was riding slow, just enjoying the scenery, and in my rear-view mirror I saw two sport bikes coming up behind me. They passed me like I was standing still. I saw them enter a sharp left turn, and then a cloud of dust. There was motorcycle pieces all over the road and a motionless body on the side. I lifted the rider’s visor, tried to get a response. I then unzipped his jacket and started doing chest compressions. I did this until the paramedics arrived. I look back at this day every time I get on my motorcycle and reflect at how fragile life is, and how one lapse in judgment can affect your life drastically. Don’t ever be afraid to help when you can – someday it could be you.
