Authorities activated helicopter crews from the Washington National Guard to assist firefighters battling wildfires in Eastern Washington. One UH-60 Blackhawk and one CH-47 Chinook helicopter along with 14 crew and support personnel were sent to the Carlton Complex Fire that is currently burning in the Methow Valley.
Sergeant Cory Churchill, B Co. 1-168 General Support Aviation Battalion,
talks about this being his first wildfire mission and how his training helped him prepare for the real thing.
